First printing (no mention of other printings). Orange boards with rainbow stamped on cover. Previous owner's neatly embossed stamp on front free-endpaper. Pynchon's masterpiece, one of the most celebrated works of modern literature, Winner of the National Book Award for 1974 as well as the William Dean Howells Medal for the best work of fiction by an American over a five-year span. Front panel shows a $15.00 price and "0273" on the bottom. Small hardcover first printing of 4000 copies; the balance of the first edition, 16,000 copies, was issued in softcover. Rear dustjacket has a closed tear (repaired with tape) but overall condition of dustjacket is "Near Fine." Orange topstain and a thin ink mark on bottom edge (pen mark - not a remainder mark).
