This beautiful copy of "The Poisonwood Bible" has been SIGNED by Barbara Kingsolver on the title page! This was following her appearance at the Free Library of Philadelphia on October 19, 2018. "The Poisonwood Bible" is a story told by the wife and four daughters of Nathan Price, a fierce, evangelical Baptist who takes his family and mission to the Belgian Congo in 1959.Taking its place alongside the classic works of postcolonial literature, this ambitious novel established Kingsolver as one of the most thoughtful and daring of modern writers. Although not deemed to be autobiographical, the setting of the novel is somewhat similar to Kingsolver's own year from living in the Republic of Congo when she was seven years old. The book won the National Book Prize of South Africa, and was shortlisted for both the Pulitzer Prize and the PEN/Faulkner Award. The author was also awarded the National Humanities Medal by the US President Bill Clinton in 2000.
