Sold as a set only, the books include: 1) "A Thousand Years of Good Prayers," (2005) - the author's first book, a collection of stories set in China and among Chinese Americans living in the United States. Winner of the Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award, the PEN/Hemingway Award, The Guardian First Book Award, and the California Book Award for first fiction. 2) "The Vagrants" (2009) - her debut novel set in China in the late 1970s where we follow a group of people in a small town during this dramatic and harrowing time, the era that was a forebear of the Tiananmen Square uprising. This won the California Book Award for fiction, and was shortlisted for the International Dublin Literary Award. 3) "Gold Boy, Emerald Girl" (2010) - her second collection of stories. A finalist for the Story Prize and shortlisted for the Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award. 4) "Kinder Than Solitude" (2014) - a novel that resonates with provocative observations about human nature and life. 5) "Dear Friend, from My Life I Write to You in Your Life" (2017) - A memoir, "Dear Friend" is a beautiful, interior exploration of selfhood and a journey of recovery through literature: a long letter from a writer to like-minded readers. Li grew up in Beijing and came to the United States in 1996 to pursue a science career in immunology before she became a writer. She recently became a full professor at Princeton University this Fall where these books were signed from her reading at the Althea Ward Clark reading series on September 20, 2017. Depending upon where the books are to be sent there may be additional charges for shipping.
